  • たあとtaatocontraction

    味あじわったあと

    で drops freely with no change in tone — 食たべたあと寝ねた, 会議かいぎが終おわったあと連絡れんらくします. Fully standard in speech and writing.

  • あとatocolloquial

    opening a sentence, あと tacks one more item onto what was just said — あと、鍵かぎも返かえしておいてください; spoken only, and それから is what writing puts there.

Notes

The た before あとで marks completion in the sentence, not past time — 食たべたあとで行いく is a good future sentence, and ×食たべるあとで is ungrammatical.
