Examples
from N's side of it — projects a feeling or judgment onto the party named, normally someone other than the speaker

Formation
{N}にしたらattaches to noun
Variant notes
- にすれば — the ば conditional — stiffer and more written; the form opinion columns and reports reach for.
- にしてみたら — みる adds "try standing where they stand" — the warmest and most spoken of the set. にしてみれば is its ば twin, a shade more written.
Notes
occur, but only where the speaker's side is being set against how others see
the same thing.
Related patterns
Similar
にとって is indifferent to whether the party is animate and takes a flat stative predicate (この発見は科学にとって重要だ); にしたら needs an animate party AND a conjectural or affective tail projecting how they feel (子供にしたら急な話でしょう) — ?科学にしたら重要だ fails on both counts, and 子供にとって急な話だ loses the "as they would see it" hedge.
Both can take a person and step into their vantage, but からすると also reads its noun as EVIDENCE (この数字からすると "going by these figures") — a reading にしたら simply has not got; 数字にしたら parses only as にする+たら, "if you turn it into a number".
Lookalikes
にしたら is letter-for-letter にする's たら conditional, and the ordering-a-drink reading is the commoner one in speech (コーヒーにしたら? "how about coffee?"); the standpoint reading surfaces only when the noun is an animate party nobody could be "choosing" — 子供にしたら is a viewpoint, 紅茶にしたら is a suggestion.
One kana apart (に/と) under the same したら tail — としたら supposes a state of affairs the speaker need not believe and requires a clause (優勝するとしたら彼だ), while にしたら adopts a real party's view of a real situation and takes only a bare noun (彼にしたら不本意な結果だろう).
